Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

Most of the time we buy a large canister of Hot Chocolate mix for easy treats on cold nights. When we’ve wanted a special homemade version of Hot Chocolate, this is the recipe we make.

This Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate is simple to heat and uses ingredients we usually have in our kitchen. We bake a lot, so it’s rare we don’t have cocoa or a can of sweetened condensed milk.

This is a Hot Chocolate recipe you’ll like if you enjoy the rich taste of sweet cocoa. If you’re more of an artificial-chocolate flavor lover, this might not be the recipe you’re looking for. Consider that before you make it.

We like sticking these ingredients in our medium-sized slow cooker and then going about our evening. Since it’s not in a pot on the stove it doesn’t really need stirring throughout. Just stir it well to begin to incorporate the ingredients and once as you check the temperature about an hour into heating. Other than that, it’s low maintenance and will take care of itself.

Enjoy and stay warm when it’s cold outside!

Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

What You Need:

7 cups water

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa

2 teaspoons vanilla

1/4 teaspoon salt

What You Do:

1. Mix all ingredients, starting with dry cocoa and milk to not end up with lumps. If you add cocoa after the water, you’ll have to work harder to whisk out lumps.

2. Set slow cooker on high setting.

3. Drink is ready when hot, which should be about 90 minutes to two hours, depending on the power of your cooker.

This recipe makes enough Hot Chocolate for about 10 small mugs or five large mugs.

Garnish with marshmallows and other toppings you enjoy!
